“Happy Wife, Happy Life”

“Happy Wife, Happy Life” those are the words I would always hear as advice the first time I got married. So no matter how bad things were going, as long as she was happy, I was suppose to have a “happy life”. I let her win every conversation, and tell her she was always right. You still hear people give this advice and some women proudly announce how “whipped” her mate/husband has become.

I really hated this saying when I got back into dating. Men, never stop being who you are, especially not for a woman. Your woman deserves the real you. If she’s wrong, tell her you disagree. You don’t need to yell – discuss. She wants to be right but she needs an equal partner. Be happy together. Your life is not to make only one of you happy. Speak up…give your opinion…communicate!

  1. Love this so much! It is all about being yourself in a relationship and being honest (a woman’s POV)

  2. I am a woman and I hate it when my Husband says “Happy Wife, Happy Life”. It feels almost like a cop out to not discuss issues or as if I’m right about everything and unwilling to compromise. Being communicative with your spouse makes a difference, not this appeasing crap that statement alludes to.

  3. Communication is key. I definitely do not want a partner that is submissive. Be my equal, give me your opinions, express yourself!

  4. I completely agree!! Thanks for posting this.
